I’m Liz Sheffield-Hayes, and I work and live in the community of Albany, GA. I’m passionate about communication, so I decided a few years ago to pursue a doctorate in Communication after earning my MFA in Writing from Savannah College of Art and Design and both of my BA degrees from Georgia Southern.

This passion for writing, people, and news led to me to write for both Albany Living Magazine and Southwest Georgia Living Magazine, both of which I actively write stories about people in and from the Albany community and surrounding communities. Believe it or not, we have some AMAZING people who live here, even if many people’s first question is why are you still here or, my personal favorite, why did you come back?! The answer is simple, my family is here, and I love the trees, the Flint River, and the slower life – even in the hard days.

This blog is to tell the stories of the people in and around our community, give news of what’s happening here (hard and soft), and highlight the beauty of this area. Our area has a lot to give, even though many people, including those who are born and raised and never leave here, do not see the beauty, the people, and the events. I’m here to attempt a new perception into the things that make this area and its surrounding areas a good place to be. It is, after all, called The Good Life City!

Please do not hesitate to comment on the blog posts. I love conversation. Please do not use foul language or bring only negativity. This blog is read my many ages and kinds of people. Be respectful.
